The Lincoln Carnegie Library in Lincoln, Kansas, is seeking a student intern for Summer 2022. The intern will work approximately 300 total hours. The Lincoln Carnegie Library and the student together will arrange a work schedule. The start and end dates are flexible. The intern will work at the employer’s place of business but will be paid through Fort Hays State University at $14/hour.
The Lincoln Carnegie Library is a very active small library with high circulation and inter-library loan figures. Last year 126 children signed up and participated in the Summer Library Program.
The intern will serve as the children’s programming coordinator, helping plan and implement all aspects of the Summer Library Program. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Marketing the Summer Library Program in the community and on social media
Assisting the Library Director in planning and coordinating approximately 9 program events for children ages 6-12
Solely planning and implementing 6-8 story time events for preschoolers that connect with the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program
Providing marketing ideas and direction for the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, with the goal of reaching all families in the Lincoln area
Preparing materials and spaces for each event
Keeping statistics on participation and attendance
Working closely with the teen advisory board to obtain volunteers to assist with events and story times
Attending library board meetings and participating in discussions related to library planning and funding
