Severe Weather/Tornado/Emergency Alerts
Lincoln County communities have emergency sirens that can be heard throughout each community. Residents will hear a continuous, even-toned emergency siren when weather warnings are impacting the area. Lincoln county residents can also sign up for severe weather and emergency alerts on their cell phones through Nexrad Weather Underground.
You can also sign up for emergency alerts to be pushed to your email or even your cell phone by voice or text using the CivicReady eEmergency service. Click on the image below to add your email, cell phone or both to the list.

Community Storm Shelters
Several storm shelters are available throughout the county including:
- Lincoln – City Hall basement and County Courthouse basement
- Barnard – United Methodist Church basement and First Barnard Baptist Church basement
- Sylvan Grove – Sylvan-Lucas Unified School
Fire Sirens
The emergency sirens are sounded when the volunteer fire departments and rescue squads are paged to fires and rescues. These sirens emit a slightly different tone than the severe weather sirens in that it comes and goes non-continuously (which might be similar to a tornado siren in other communities where fires are not broadcasted over the emergency sirens). The fire sirens are also tested monthly during fire meetings.
