Over the past few years, there has been much discussion regarding desired improvements to Lincoln’s WPA-era city park. These ideas include new public bathrooms, frisbee golf course, modifications/expansion of the city pool, a children’s reading trail, a walking trail, better control of flooding along the creek, and adding other new amenities such as a remote control car racecourse.
To help get the ideas ‘down on paper’, Mason Herrman, a Regional & Community Planning student at Kansas State University was hired through a summer internship grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to help create a master plan. Various meetings were held with stakeholder groups and the public including an online survey. Below is a summary of the ideas.
