Under the supervision of the City Superintendent or Power Plant Foreman, the Power Plant Operator/Mechanic works in the City’s industrial generation facility. The employee in this position is responsible for maintaining continuous operation of the generating units in the plant, monitoring the City’s connection with other electric utility systems, and delivering the necessary electrical power to the City’s electrical system. He or she is expected to select the appropriate combination of prime movers and related auxiliary equipment to produce electrical energy. Also, he or she is expected to monitor equipment operations for any possible malfunctions and to take corrective action should a malfunction occur. He or she is also responsible for repair and maintenance of the power plant machinery and equipment. This is a non-exempt position under FLSA.
Starting wage $18.75.
