J&R Feeds – 2018 Downtown Design Assistance Program Project

Formerly known as the M&G Building in downtown Sylvan Grove, the property has been recently purchased and will soon hold several new businesses, including J&R Feeds.  Although the building has been vacant for several years, the interns were able to work with the new owners to propose improvements that would maintain the historic integrity of the building yet make it more functional as well.

Improvements include:

  • Repairing and painting the building’s original pressed metal siding
  • Repairing and repointing the limestone foundation and walls
  • Converting the space that was historically a garage door into an ADA accessible storefront
  • Installing awnings over the storefronts
  • Installing new signage

The project could have a major impact on Sylvan Grove’s overall downtown.  The Lincoln County Economic Development Foundation is providing some grant funding to the owners to help implement the project.
