The USD #298 BOE has offered unanimous support for a ground-up track rebuild proposal from Fisher Tracks in Boone, Iowa, IF the Track Fundraising Committee can raise the estimated $500,000 required to complete the project. An American Sports Builders Association Certified Track Builder, Fisher has over 1,200 track projects in their portfolio, including the track at Salina Stadium.
The committee has raised $116,000 to date with a pledge of $40,000 in ARPA funds from the Lincoln County Commission (as part of a 50% match), if the committee can raise just $24,000 more by the end of June, which would bring the overall funds raised very close to $200,000.
The Track Fundraising Committee plans to raise the $500,000 by December 31st, 2023, which should allow Fisher to begin work some time in 2024. (See a rendering of the proposed layout below.)
Obviously with a project of this size the fundraising effort will be far reaching. Grant applications will continue and donors big and small are needed.
