Lincoln – “Reflections in Different Dimensions”, with Janie Tubbs and Taton Tubbs, Lindsborg, opens with a reception the Lincoln Art Center on Friday May 12th, 5:30 -7:30, the exhibit closes June 30, 2023.

Janie considers herself a Functional/Traditional basket maker. Her baskets utilize traditional styles that can accommodate up-to-date functionality. She primarily uses reed from rattan vine for basket making, but also enjoys finding and using indigenous materials from within the McPherson county area; such as wild grapevine, blackberry canes, forsythia shoots and whit poplar tree shoot. To achieve the colors used in her baskets, she also dyes her own reed. Janie is retired from Clayworks in McPherson.

Janie says “The baskets in this exhibit are a reflection of what I see in Taton’s photography.”

Taton says “Light from our Sun takes approximately 8 minutes to travel across space to reach Earth. Occasionally when I am diligent and very lucky, I get to capture those photons interacting here on our planet – and sometimes the results are interesting and end up as photographs. It is my sincere belief that we are surrounded by beauty everywhere if only we pause to look around.”

The exhibit is in conjunction with an artist talk at 6:30 and time for discussion with the artists. This exhibit is free and open to the public, refreshments will be served.

The art center is open Tuesday – Friday Noon to 4:00 and Saturday 9:00 – Noon. For more information call 785-524-3241 or email lincolnartcenter@att.net, visit our facebook page, or website Lincolnartcenter.org.
