On November 10, 2015, approximately 250 area students from the Lincoln, Sylvan-Lucas, and Tescott high schools will attend Career Day, an event focused on highlighting the many job opportunities available now and in the future in Lincoln County and the surrounding area.
The event aims to be a myth-buster of the common misconception that rural life does not offer enough opportunities for our youth to be successful in their future careers. Many successful business owners and individuals will highlight not only their own success stories but also discuss the opportunities they see now and in the future for our youth.
Theme: Whatever you want to do, you can do it here!
Career Tracks: Approx. 25 different career tracks will be offered ranging from agriculture to medical, construction trades to culinary arts, and accounting to education.
Tradeshow: Featuring county businesses, organizations, and trade schools, giving students the opportunity to talk one-on-one with business owners and individuals
This year’s Career Day is being organized by the Lincoln County ‘Home’ Team, a group organized after a Countywide Strategic Planning session, held in the fall of 2014, determined that retaining our youth and developing entrepreneurship was one of the county’s top priorities. Soon after, the group rallied behind the career day idea and began making plans.
