Ranch Rodeo @ Lincoln County - Sylvan Grove Fair Grounds
Apr 13 @ 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Ranch Rodeo
A ranch rodeo is a traditional type of rodeo in which teams of cowboys or cowgirls from different ranches compete against each other in events based on the type of work they do every day.

Ranch rodeos differ from the more common PRCA-style rodeos in several ways. For starters, the contestants are not professional rodeo cowboys; instead, they are usually full-time ranch hands who compete in annual ranch rodeos for fun and for bragging rights. The events in ranch rodeos are more similar to the tasks commonly performed on a ranch, and the equipment and tack used are the same as those used during everyday ranch work. Instead of competing as individuals, the contestants in ranch rodeos compete as a team representing the ranch they work for. Though there are often individual awards such as “Top Hand” and “Top Horse,” and the main prize is for the top overall ranch team.

The 4 person team will be competing in Double Mugging, Trailer Loading and Branding. They may also enter in the optional Wild Cow Milking event.

A Concession stand and beer garden will be available onsite.

Admission is by donation

Biking Across Kansas @ Hwy 18
Jun 12 @ 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

Biking Across KansasThe Biking Across Kansas 2019 route will make its way through Lincoln County again, as bicyclists will travel from an overnight stay in Wilson, up the Post Rock Scenic Byway to Highway 18, and on eastward to Minneapolis for another overnight stay.

“Biking Across Kansas is excited to have Lincoln on our route again this year. We anticipate many riders will stop in Lincoln between and for a mid-ride meal and/or visit local museums,” Stefanie Weaver, Executive Director of Biking Across Kansas, Inc., said.

The 45th year of the longest-running bicycling event in Kansas history, a 497-mile ride across the State, begins Saturday, June 8, 2019. Biking Across Kansas is an eight-day tour originating at the Kansas-Colorado line with over 800 bicyclists, including support staff.

The bicyclists will start at the Kansas-Colorado line west of Goodland and will stop overnight in Colby, Hill City, Hays, Wilson, Minneapolis, Clay Center, and Holton. The cyclists’ final night together will be in Holton on Friday, June 14. The following morning they will cycle to the Missouri River in Atchison where they will celebrate the end of the ride.

BAK is also routed through: Kanorado, Brewster, Hoxie, Palco, Ellis, Russell, Lincoln, Bennington, Onaga, Effi ngham, and many more Kansas towns.

“The 2019 route will begin west of Goodland and progresses through varied and scenic Kansas landscapes, starting in the High Plains of Western Kansas and ending in the Glaciated Region at the Missouri River. Highlights include: the Largest Barn in Kansas in Colby, Nicodemus National Historic Site, Historic Fort Hays, Wilson: the Czech Capital of Kansas, Rock City Park near Minneapolis, the scenic Flint Hills, and the Amelia Earhart home in Atchison,” said David Rohr, Chairman of Biking Across Kansas, Inc.
