The Barnard Rural Fire Department is a team of 30 volunteers that respond to all grass and structure fires within a 490 square miles area in north and north eastern Lincoln county and five miles into Mitchell county as well. The Barnard Rural Fire Department responds with three brush trucks (300 gal.), a 6X6 (1500 gal.), a tanker (3000 gal.) and a pumper truck.
