A Ride Through History

If you are a history enthusiast or just enjoy great views this is a perfect ride. You will pass by the Rosette, Spillman, Pottersburg, Denmark and Pleasant Township cemeteries along the way. We recommend stopping at the double arch bridge built over the Spillman Creek in 1908. At one time highway 181 went over it but the road was moved in 1993 and the bridge sits right off the road with a nice gazebo picnic spot. There are signs telling the history of the bridge and the area including about the Emancipation Celebrations that were held along Pawnee Trail that ran nearby. We also recommend riding into Denmark to see the Lutheran Church and Denmark Hall. Be sure to take plenty of water as there are no places to fill up along the way.

Start: Sylvan Grove City Park
Miles: 38.1
Surfaces: Mixed, paved and unpaved
