The Crispin Antiquarian Foundation has been organized as a tax exempt, not-for-profit institution to preserve and promote the history of scouting and other youth organizations and to promote and improve public understanding of the science, technology and history of pharmacy. Some major youth groups represented in the Scout Museum include Girl Scouts of America, 4-H, Girl Guides, Camp Fire Girls, Pioneer Girls and Girl Reserves.
The Girl Scouts program encourages increased skill building and responsibility among its members. The program also promotes the development of strong leadership and decision making skills. The Girl Scouts provide services to the community through various projects such as the White Gift Project and painting bleachers.
Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's organization that promotes religious life and provides community service for local charities such as Vacation Bibile School, CCD Education and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Organized in 1940, the Lincoln County Historical Society collects historical material from the area to preserve, protect and promote the heritage of Lincoln County and its citizens.
For the past 80 years, the Lincoln Lions Club has been providing funds for summer baseball and softball, donating to the Finch Theatre and Art Center, and donating to the park equipment in city park. The fireworks stand held yearly contributes to these funds.
This non profit organization was established in 2002 as a result of community support for education and economic development. Community volunteers and donations help support the program. The focus is on historical restorations and development, recreational facilities, main street development, enhancement of educational opportunities, housing development and tourism.
Sylvan Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of the history and heritage of the Sylvan Grove area. The organization sponsors demonstrations which have featured antique machinery and women's vintage baseball.
The Sylvan Lions Club has been serving the Sylvan community for 53 years. This organization is for men and women. They sponsor various events in the local school and the community, such as donating money to the Sylvan Baseball team, being a sponsor for the Sylvan Cookies baseball team, taking tickets at all home sporting events and laying concrete at Sylvan City Park for the basketball court.
For over 50 years, the Lincoln VFW Auxiliary members have been doing their share of community service. Hading out flags, giving a yearly scholarship, donating to veteran hospitals and the VFW national Home and sponsoring the boy and scouts and girl scouts are just a few of the projects and activities provided by the VFW Auxiliary.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars has a rich tradition in enhancing the lives of millions through its community service programs and special projects. From providing free phone cards to our nation's active-duty military personnel to raising money for the World War II memorial, the VFW is there, "honoring the dead by helping the living."
